Language in Heaven?

Don’t the words from Oklahoma! give you a thrill up your spine? I’m old now, but still able to get a chill when I hear these words.
“Oh, what a beautiful morning,
Oh, what a beautiful day!
I’ve got a beautiful feeling
Everything’s goin’ my way!”
The words are great, but may I just share a pet peeve that really grates on my nerves? Oh, my goodness, where did those hideous accents come from? I have to say, those are definitely NOT Oklahoma accents! I’ve had many relatives in that state. I’ve often visited OK. I’ve never in my life heard such rattle-trap as what comes from those folks’ mouths. But on another note, there ARE some beautiful melodies there.
Another consideration about tongues and things that I find fascinating is accents. A few of them I can even identify. For instance, I can tell the difference between southern accents from Virginia, Mississippi, Florida, and Texas. I really identify with the Arkansas accent, having been born and raised there for the first eleven years of my life. My oldest sister, Rae Jean, despite living sixteen years in Arkansas, really knocked the Oklahoma accent out of the park, and has been a social moniker for Oklahoma for (mumble, mumble, mumble) years. Another sister, Genice, and her family have the soft East-Texas accent down—like butter melting on a hot pancake.
Do you ever wonder if there are going to be accents in heaven? Or, will we all speak with the tongues of the angels? Or, will we understand every unfamiliar language as soon as we hear it? So many possibilities! So much to learn and understand. But we’ll have the Holy Ghost, who understands everything, to help us.
So, here we are on a bright and beautiful beginning of October pondering things earthly and heavenly. Let me wish you a beautiful and wonderful autumn.
